September's Business Seminar: "Social Media Workshop"

The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly workshop on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Marianas Business Plaza, Suite 315. The three-hour workshop will focus on social media and its role in finding new    customers, updating existing customers regarding promotions and events, and enhancing the effectiveness of your business. Get up-to-date on all the trending topics on social media and the benefits of using this tool to improve business from local experts.

Social media is changing business-from selling to connecting with your audience, from large campaigns to small acts, from controlling the message to transparency, and from hard-to-reach to available everywhere. More businesses than ever are devoting an increasing amount of resources into social media marketing. How do you determine whether those efforts are successful? Our guest speakers will not only tackle the ins and outs of networking using social media as a tool, but will also provide you with key information to help achieve your goals.

Registration for the workshop is now being accepted at the Saipan Chamber of Commerce office at the Marianas Business Plaza Suite 315, 3rd Floor. Please call 234-7150 or e-mail to reserve your attendance. Registration fee for Chamber members is $15; ($25 for non-Chamber members). Seating is limited to the first 25 confirmed attendees.

The major golf tournament sponsor, Steven Brownstein / The Background Investigator, has again generously donated a check for $5,000 to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce for this year’s event.   Proceeds of the tournament will go toward the Chamber’s Education/Scholarship fund, monthly training seminars, and other Chamber programs which directly benefit the business community of Saipan.

The Chamber holds many educational events each year.  The annual scholarship awards totalling $12,000 are the most public and visible educational endeavor but we also sponsor a program begun in 2008:  workshops for high school juniors and seniors.  This year’s event was entitled “Joining the Workforce” and gave students a better understanding of core abilities and issues (such as personal budgeting, balancing work and family expectations, communication skills, and resume-writing and interview tips.)  These are useful life skills for anyone, whether they are heading off to college or immediately entering the workforce after graduation.  Mr. Brownstein’s donation to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce will help fund all of these worthwhile projects.

This year’s annual golf tournament will be held on Saturday, October 11th, at LaoLao Bay Golf Resort with a two-person scramble format.  The entry fee for players will be $100.  Cash prizes include 1st place - $800, 2nd place - $500 and 3rd place - $300 for the three categories (Men’s Low Gross, Men’s Low Net (double Peoria), and Women’s Low Net (double Peoria).  Fabulous raffle prizes will be given away during the banquet at the end of the tournament.
