WHY THIS MATTERS?
The more businesses that respond, the stronger our case is when working with partners like the U.S. Small Business Administration and Federal Emergency Management Agency to bring support to the business community.
Financial Assistance Available
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Disaster Loans
- Up to $2 million for repairs, equipment, and working capital
- Includes Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EIDL) for revenues loss
What you will need to apply for a disaster loan:
- Email addresses and contact information for all applicants
- Social Security numbers and Employer Identification Numbers (EIN) for all applicants
- Financial Information (e.g., income and monthly expenses, etc.)
- A complete copy of the most recent federal income tax return (this can be provided later)
- Insurance information, if available.

Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA)
FEMA provides disaster assistance but it's important to understand that FEMA does not directly provide grants to businesses for losses or repairs.
Instead, FEMA support is mainly for:
- Individuals and households
- Community infrastructure (roads, utilities, public facilities)
SO WHY SHOULD BUSINESS OWNERS APPLY?
Even if you own a business, you should still apply if you experienced personal impact, you may qualify for the following:
- Temporary housing assistance
- Home repairs (if your residence was damaged)
- Personal property loss (not business inventory)
- Other disaster-related expenses
How to Apply for FEMA
- Visit disasterassistance.gov
- Create an account
- Provide Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- Enter your damaged address
- Describe your Losses
- Be clear about home damage and personal property
- Include disaster-related expenses
- Submit & Track
- Save your application number
- Checking your status regularly
- Respond quickly if FEMA requests more information
What you will need to apply for a disaster loan:
- Social Security Number
- Insurance Information
- Description of damages
- Photos (if available)
- Banking info (for direct deposit)
After you Apply:
- You may be contacted for an inspection so be sure to provide your best working number and an alternative
- FEMA will send a determination letter
- If denied, you can appeal
