Committees

Armed Forces Committee

The Armed Forces Committee's mission is to welcome all visiting military personnel, through ship greetings, receptions, and solicitation of military discounts from SCC members. The Committee is also working with the Navy and other parties as activities begin to implement the move of Marines from Okinawa to Guam.

Meeting Times: Fourth Wednesday of every month.

Distributors' Group

To represent the interests of SCC distributor members.

Economic Development Committee

Committee will pursue the issues identified by the Marianas Roundtable Economic Summit, as well as other projects to help revitalize the CNMI economy.

Meeting Times: 4th Tuesday of each month, 8:30 am

Education Commitee

Assists in the promotion of high standards and quality education throughout the Commonwealth. Coordinates presentation of scholarship awards to students of selected schools.

Meeting Times: First Monday of every month

Environmental Affairs Committee

Promotes events and programs to further local aesthetic and environmental sensitivity and to ensure that Saipan stays clean and beautiful for residents and tourists alike. Responsible for Cash for Trash program.

Meeting Times: As needed

Events Committee

Implements specific continuing business/management education seminars, Chamber events, fund-raisers and other community projects. Right now - Events Committee is planning the Corporate Challenge for Education.

Meeting Times: as needed

Government Relations

Monitors the legislative and regulatory climate as it affects local businesses. Reviews and provides written testimony or reports on legislation and conditions affecting businesses.

Meeting Times: Meets every second and fourth Thursday at 9:30 am, Chamber offices

Membership Committee

Promotes the recruitment of new members. Develops Chamber membership value and satisfaction. Implements Chamber membership recognition. Promotes and preserves the practice of sound traditional business ethics through advancing the Chamber's Code of Ethics.

Small Business Committee

Promotes and supports the interests of small businesses through workshops and other activitie.
